head-on collision kills child
SOUTH ACRES (November 5, 2018)- One adult and a child are dead after a head-on collision in the South Acres, southeast Houston, on Sunday morning.

The accident happened around 2:00 a.m. on Almeda Genoa near Pembroke Street.

The Houston Police Department reported a small car and pickup were traveling towards each other on Almeda Genoa. The driver of the pickup truck was traveling westbound on Almeda Genoa and said he noticed the car drifting in and out of his lane heading towards him. The pickup driver told police he tried to flash his lights, but the car continued towards him. The two vehicles crashed into each other head-on.

The driver of the small car died. Officials report it was a male driver with a child, approximately 8 to 10 years old in the back seat of the vehicle. The child in the backseat died from multiple injuries. The driver of the pickup truck received minor injuries from the crash. Police are investigating to see if alcohol may have been a factor.

The crash remains under investigation and police reports will be available in ten days.
