Houston Police Officer Crashes into 3 CarsHOUSTON (October 31, 2018)– The Houston Police Department is investigating a crash involving an intoxicated off-duty officer.

The wreck happened Tuesday around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Houston Avenue and Washington Avenue. The off duty officer was driving an unmarked HPD vehicle and possibly intoxicated when he collided into three vehicles.

According to Lt. Larry Crowson, “the off-duty officer was going north on Houston Avenue, came up behind and struck three vehicles, side-swiped one, hit one vehicle, pushed the other vehicle into another vehicle.”

There were no serious injuries from the crash.

DWI officers and internal affairs investigators were called to the scene and continue to review the car accident. The officer has been detained, but no charges have been enforced at this time. The crash remains under investigation and police reports will be made available in ten days.
