fatal pedestrian accident

HUMLE (October 24, 2018)– Early morning commuters in Humble experienced delays due to a fatal pedestrian accident on Eastex Freeway.

According to Humble Police Department, the victim was walking in the freeway’s right lane of traffic on I-59 near Townsen around 1:30 a.m. The driver of a Ford Mustang entered the freeway unable to see the man and hit him from behind.

The pedestrian died at the scene. The driver of the Mustang was not seriously hurt, but the front passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The victim has not been identified. The driver of the Mustang stayed at the scene of the crash. At this time charges have not been stated for the driver. As of 8:00 a.m. all northbound lanes remained blocked at the Townsen exit with the investigation ongoing.
